Here are some fragmentary thoughts oh thinking one (Alan Jones).
Of course the world is full of data and metadata - those who collect it(assemble it) then those who co-ordinate it and those who turn it into knowledge for their nefarious purposes.
Traditional hierarchy has been (are we in transition)

Operator/supervisor/Manager
Slave/slave driver/King
Now of course we have Teams and team players

Religion is the opium of the people someone claimed (I think it could be the big brother house X factor etc Now)

I liked the words "fluffy" and "Notions" - Of course Tony Blair said Education, Education, Education, - turned out to be Training, Training, Training, - so where did that get us -
given that you can train and/or educate some humans (how many?)
but only train monkeys (Greg would disagree!)

Then there are peoples motives (see Maslow hierarchy of needs)

The more thinking that is encouraged the more values have to be shared - thats where the Fuffy notions cause problems - So what is education - Now unsurprisingly Tony Blair never defined Education - he left that to our individual fluffily trained educated notions - So

1) What level of education does one aspire to and what is it

2) What level of training does one aspire to and what is it

Of course that leaves us all very much in need of a drink quote "Paddy Hirsh" see you tube below

In chemistry there was the distinction between Quantatative analysis and qualitative analysis

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8257673.stm Well its a start - But employers will need to respond (But avoid getting bogged down -tricky task) i.e. become even more responsible in how they do business (internally and externally)... put even more effort in (maybe leading by example by major companies - supply chain passing the parcel during quality audits etc....... so look forward to more "real" reality programmes. I suppose drawing from my experience in commerce/business/supplychain/IT/Education - I guess the supply chain will eventually pass more than contractual supply goods and information about those contractual goods - if you get my drift. So the purchasing manager becomes a seminal guy - Back to the Input/output model - exercise great care with System creation/input/origination and the greater the predictability of the output - what society wants does not just Happen! it takes effort and committment
